Your Weekly Tarot Card Reading, Based on Your Sign

By | January 13, 2020

You don’t need to know the difference between a three-card and a Celtic cross spread to get the most out of a tarot card reading. All you need: your Sun sign! Here’s what I do: Shuffle my tarot deck and pull out the cards in order from Aries to Pisces plus one general card for everyone so that you can get specific advice around your personality. Let’s go!

A GENERAL CARD FOR EVERYONE: THE WORLD

A message for us all this week: Savor today. The World is a card about completion and achievement, how the cycle of change never stops, and we are always closing something down in order to start something new. Life is in perpetual motion. The World asks us to stop for a hot minute and just relax and enjoy where we’re at. There’s no need to rush ahead or dwell on what has already happened. Live in the moment, savor your current circumstances and the people who are important in your life. Celebrate wherever you’re at this week!

ARIES: DEATH

image

*Deep breaths* This card does not mean, like, death death, so chill. What it does mean, though, is transformation (which some people might think is just as scary). There’s no denying you want things to change in your life ATM, and there’s no resisting the forces that will start to make that process happen. You’ve got to go with it, roll with it, flow with it. Accept that everything is happening for a reason, and that reason is to help you transform. It starts HERE.

TAURUS: QUEEN OF CUPS

image

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

You’re feeling all warm and fuzzy rn, aren’t ya? The Queen of Cups brings a glow of happiness and satisfaction to your world, and your first thought this week is, How can I spread the love? Good for you! It’s nice to be nice. Make these next seven days a happy little chapter of random acts of kindness toward those you love and like and whoever might just need a boost rn. You’ve got Venus in your corner, the goddess of love and pleasure, so you have more than enough good vibes to share around. Go be a source of love and light for others.

GEMINI: THE TOWER

image

Everything okay, hun? The Tower is a bold card about sudden impacts, events, and revelations that rock our world. It’s dramatic, powerful, and unexpected. It brings big changes with it, like a cosmic wrecking ball, smashing through the old and leaving the ground clear for you to (re)build on. It can be a bit painful because unexpected news is often a shock to the system, but it all comes from a good place. Take extra-special care of yourself this week and believe that whatever happens, it’s all going to be alright in the end. (So if it’s not quite alright now, then it’s just not the end, okay?)

CANCER: SEVEN OF COINS

image

Your New Year has gotten off to a pretty good start, Cancer, and you’re feeling like it’s time to ditch the green juices and treat yourself to some more bubbly (or whatever your favorite celebratory guilty pleasure is). Well, the Seven of Coins says the Universe wholeheartedly agrees with you. We have to make the effort to acknowledge our milestones and successes and reward ourselves for them. It sends signals out that we’re ready for more of the same. Kick back and have some fun this week—you’ve earned it.

LEO: THE STAR

image

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

Leo, you lucky kitty cat! The Star is the tarot’s most positive card and brings powerful energy for you to make a long-held dream of yours come true. Don’t waste this on something small-scale like a date with that cutie from your Spin class. Aim high. Dream big. Live large. The Universe is backing you to achieve something you thought was out of reach. All you need to do is visualize it and make overt moves in its direction. Be bold and go grab yourself something magical.

VIRGO: NINE OF SWORDS

image

Rider-Waite deck/Raydene Salinas Hansen

You’re the zodiac’s biggest worrier, Virgo, but the Nine of Swords is like the tarot’s therapist and sweeps in this week to tell you it’s time to get all this ~stuff~ off your chest. Find a willing and trusted confidant and spill the tea on what’s on your mind, what’s keeping you up at night, what’s bugging you. Talking it out will make most of it fade into nothing, and the rest can be tackled with a genius plan (something else you’re very good at). Talking is the answer.

LIBRA: FOUR OF COINS

image

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

You’re worried that you don’t have enough of something in your life, something material like money, assets, knowledge, or career opportunities. And the Four of Coins reveals this is not the right mind-set or approach here. When we come at life from a position of scarcity or lack, we are already putting ourselves on the defense, being led by our worst fears rather than best hopes. Change your stance. Focus on what you have, not what you lack. You will feel better and act more positively.

SCORPIO: SEVEN OF CUPS

image

Rider-Waite deck/Raydene Salinas Hansen

Few people realize just how creative and imaginative you are, but the Seven of Cups shows your powers of artistry and ingenuity are flowing in full force this week. Use them wisely. Get involved with a project or a new activity that requires you to generate ideas, create something, or express yourself in a new way. Actively seek a different channel for your imagination to flow into, and fresh opportunities will arise as a result. Show people just how inventive and original you can be, Scorpy!

SAGITTARIUS: PAGE OF COINS

image

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

Hi, friendly reminder: Hard work always beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard! That’s not a message you like hearing because sometimes you rather like kicking back and putting your feet up, metaphorically, for a day or so. Sag, get to work! Knuckle down, focus, pay attention, trudge through the drudgery. The Page of Coins is a call to action for you to get on with what you ought (not want) to be doing. You can play this weekend, but right now, you need to work.

CAPRICORN: THE CHARIOT

image

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

The theme of the week for you, Cap: travel. The Chariot is all about movement, journeys, trips, location changes, holidays, and excursions. It’s time to think about your place in this world. Happy where you live? Eager to see something new? Wondering about your wanderlust? Identify where in your life you experience ~growing pains~ and consider how you can find new space to expand into. Your place in this world may be changing—take charge of how and when.

AQUARIUS: FOUR OF CUPS

image

Rider-Waite deck/Raydene Salinas Hansen

This week, take a look around your existing and current world—your friendships, work, home, family, social life, and everyday routines—because somewhere within this landscape is something you’ve neglected or overlooked. The Four of Cups shows up when we’re missing a true gem right under our nose. Someone, something, or someplace really deserves your appreciation and time this week. It’s nothing new. It’s something ~old~, but you’ve missed out recently on just how valuable and important it is.

PISCES: THE EMPEROR

image

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

It’s time to evaluate how much control you feel that you, or others, are exerting over your ambitions and goals. Do you have a plan for your future? Do you believe in it and truly want it to unfold, or are you coasting rn? The Emperor hints that 2020 will be a heck of a lot better if you head into it with a plan of action for the things you want to happen, whether that’s in your love life, career, home, or even social and lifestyle ideals. Pause to reflect on your goals this week. Make a list. Create a plan. It’s that simple, and you will not regret it.
